The 6-Step AP Process (What You Need to Do)
Step 1: Learn About AP & Go to an Info Meeting
- Watch the AP intro videos
- Talk to your parents, teachers, and friends who've taken AP classes
- Find out what these classes are really like (spoiler: they're harder than regular classes, but doable!)
Step 2: Fill Out the AP Readiness Form
- Complete the online form that asks about which AP classes you're interested in
- Important: One form PER SUBJECT. Don't miss the deadline! Mark it on your calendar.
Step 3: Talk to Your Guidance Counselor
- When you meet with your counselor about next year's classes, tell them which AP classes you want
- They'll help you decide if it's a good fit
Step 4: Find Out If You Got In (Early May)
- In May (sometimes earlier), you'll get an email or message telling you if you got into your AP classes
- If you didn't get in, don't worry—you can try again next year!
Step 5: Go to the AP Kickoff Meeting
- This meeting tells you what to expect: class rules, how hard it'll be, and any summer work
- Don't skip this! You'll get important info you need.
Step 6: Do Your Summer Work
- Some AP classes require summer homework
